Here is a recipe for chocolate matcha-flavored macarons:
Ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup almond flour
2 tablespoons matcha powder
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 large egg whites
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon cream
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons matcha powder
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together powdered sugar, almond flour, matcha powder, and cocoa powder.
3. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until frothy. Add granulated sugar, salt, and cream and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
4. Gently fold dry ingredients into egg whites until just combined.
5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe 1-inch rounds onto a prepared baking sheet.
6. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release any air bubbles and let macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
7. Bake macarons for 15-18 minutes, until they are set and easily release from the parchment paper.
8. While macarons cool, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar and matcha powder and beat until well combined.
9. Once macarons are cooled, pipe or spread filling onto half of the macarons and sandwich with the remaining half.
10. Serve and enjoy!
Note: Macarons can be finicky and may take a few tries to get right. Patience and practice are key to perfecting this delicate pastry.
